Joseph Zambarano

Growing up in a family of engineers, mechanics and artisans, Joseph was constantly exposed to a spirit of curiosity about how things were made. From an early age, he was interested in woodworking, metal work, and painting among other crafts. Joseph studied the arts and trades in high school at the Creative Arts Workshop in New Haven, CT. He then went on to complete a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree in Sculpture/Studio Furniture at the State University of New York. Even before graduating, Joseph was in business as a designer and builder of fine woodworking and historical renovation projects, which he later continued after a move to Austin in 1991. He would then obtain a Master of Fine Art degree from the University of Texas, and then become entrenched for many years with local architects and builders to produce extraordinary cabinets and furniture for an elite client base.

At Shoberg Homes, Joseph has been able to utilize his hands-on craft, construction, and management experience to advise clients, collaborate with architects and designers, and oversee subcontractors and the project budgets.  He loves the study of new building science technologies while also appropriately applying traditional, artisan techniques that have stood the test of time. Joseph stated, “I love Austin and it has been a great place to live and raise my two daughters. My wife and I enjoy travel for adventure and to reconnect with family, cooking and entertaining, gardening and backpacking.”
